It makes the game more difficult as much as forcing the player to crouch and look down every time before jumping in an action platformer game. I don't feel like it makes the game more difficult, or rather it does, but it does so by making it more awkward to control. I didn't know the game gets rid of the mechanic later on and I mean, I'm open for the option to tweak it rather then remove it but I simply can't imagine a tweak to the thing to make me think that it is a good addition to the game, that it expands my options or it makes the game more in-depth. I haven't played Bomber Crew so I can't comment on how Tag mode mechanic worked there, but I would love to hear a single good argument for Tag Mode in Space Crew other then "it was in Bomber Crew". I've read on a different thread that this mechanic was in the previous game and it does feel like that, it feels like a vestigial mechanic. The player should be able to simply click on the enemy that the player wants to attack. You zoom in to see the inside of your ship and zoom out to see outside your ship, it doesn't get more intuitive then that. The zoom out camera is simply superior in both information gathering and in terms of intuitive control. If it was used as a specific ship targeting mode, rather then "tagging" mode, it would be far more useful but it would still be unnecessarily awkward to switch between the three cameras. So targeting a specific enemy and being able to switch targets seeing that most enemies are more mobile then the player ship would actually be useful. I apologize for forgetting the names of the abilities and correct me if I am wrong but the active ability to increase weapon accuracy makes the most sense to be used on a distant target and the ability to increase effectiveness of the weapons makes the most sense to be used on a target that is close. The more I "tag" enemies the less control I have in who actually I attack. Meaning that if I want to use it to prioritize targets I am not allowed to even look at the enemies I do not want to immediately attack. On top of that, for reasons I do not understand even if this was meant to be a mobile game, the enemies are "tagged" by simply looking at them. The game already has an outside camera that is used to see around your ship and the game already marks the enemies that are nearby, so this special outside camera is used when you already notice the enemy in the regular outside camera by pointing to an already marked enemy so you would mark it again and you are forced to do this every time a new enemy spawns or your ship wont fire on them. For me, personally, it is the reason why I wont be buying the game. Incredibly obsolete mechanic that actually manages to limit player agency.
